Ian Snodin: No need for Everton FC to panic over Nikica Jelavic form

Every Evertonian seems to be in agreement at the moment – we just can’t seem to finish sides off when they are there for the taking. For Norwich, see also Fulham and Reading.

Dominance which should have been rewarded with victory, but which eventually ends in frustration. I saw David Moyes hinting afterwards that Everton need more from Nikica Jelavic (right) , and I would have to agree with him. The big fella is not firing on all cylinders at the moment, and when games are tight it shows. Last season he was helping Everton get a second and a third goal, but at the moment they are not flowing for him, and the Blues are suffering. I wouldn’t panic, though. I’ve seen enough of Jela to know he is a good enough player to bounce back from any lull in form. All strikers go through it, but he is the type who can come out the other end stronger.

Confidence is such an important thing in football. When things aren’t going for you it can feel like the end of the world, but Jelavic is a goalscorer, a real talent. He’s got good players around him, too. Players who can, and will, create chances for him. And you have to suspect that if they keep falling to him, he will soon start sticking them in the back of the net. It’s what he does. Related stories From around the web Related Tags
