Gosling following Cahill's lead
Dan Gosling is hoping to follow in Tim Cahill's footsteps and become an integral part of the Everton side.
The teenage midfielder has broken into the first-team set-up at Goodison Park this season and has made impressive strides within the senior fold.
He has enjoyed a number of memorable moments, with a winning goal against arch-rivals Liverpool in an FA Cup clash in February representing the height of his achievements.
That strike was one of three he has managed in 15 appearances this term, but he is not resting on his laurels as the 2008/09 campaign draws to a close.
He is hoping to be involved in the Toffees' final Premier League fixture against Fulham on Sunday, with a positive showing in that contest set to put him in contention for an FA Cup final berth against Chelsea on 30th May.
Gosling insists he will not be letting the opportunity to turn out at Wembley weigh on his mind, though, as he insists his main focus at present is to continue improving his game.
"The most important thing is to win the cup rather than me worrying about starting but it is just going to be great to be involved at Wembley," he told the Liverpool Echo.
"I set myself a target at the start of the season and my standards have improved but hopefully I will be even better again next year.
"I would like to think that I could become a player like Tim Cahill. I watch him every day in training and try to follow his movement and the positions that he gets himself into in the box.
"I have just been trying to copy him. I've scored a couple of goals this season and hopefully the one against Liverpool will mean something at the end of the month."
