Fresh Saha blow for Toffees
02 Jan 2009 - 12:32:52
Everton will have to wait up to five weeks before injury-plagued striker Louis Saha is fit enough to return to action.
The France striker missed the Toffees' festive programme with a hamstring injury picked up in the 1-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur on November 30.
Saha was originally expected to be back in action in mid-December but, following another scan, it has been revealed that he now faces an additional spell on the sidelines.
"Louis has been re-scanned and he will be out for another four to five weeks," manager David Moyes told the club's official website.
The Toffees have picked up ten points from a possible 15 while the former Manchester United striker has been sidelined and Moyes is hoping that impressive run can continue in his prolonged absence.
Ahead of Saturday's FA Cup third round trip to Macclesfield, he added: "The boys are playing really well at the minute and I'm pleased with how they are doing. Long may it continue and we are all looking forward to the game.
"We want to do well in the FA Cup. It's been a long time since we had a run in it and hopefully this will be the year when we change that.
"The level of our performances have improved dramatically from what they were a couple of months ago when I wasn't pleased with what I was seeing."
