Forren Set For Contract Talks

Norwegian defender Vegard Forren is on his way to England to have a medical at Everton and complete all the details of a move before the January transfer window opens.

TV2, a major station in Norway, says the the 24 year old will be in Merseyside on Tuesday or Wednesday to go through the medical process and finalise negotiations regarding wages and contract length. The deal with Molde is at such an advanced stage that they have given permission for the player to travel. Norway's league season recently finished, with Molde again winning the championship, and it's currently a season-break for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad which includes Forren.

Forren was last week voted the league's best player and has been watched by Everton for some time, the Merseyside club apparently beating Fulham to his signature. TV2 quote Forren as saying "If Everton get involved, then there is no doubt that I am interested in it. It's a big club in the Premier League. It's my dream."

The Daily Mail reported Everton's interest last week and said that David Moyes had been to watch the defender in action, something the Everton manager dismissed by saying he goes to watch a lot of football games.

Moyes was not alone in his trip to watch the young defender however. David Weir, Andy Holden and assistant boss Steve Round accompanied the Scot, proof if ever it was required that the club are very interested.

The Norwegian league season runs from March through to November to avoid the country's harsh winter weather. Forren would not be able to play for Everton until the opening of the January transfer window.
