Everton's bid to seal a fourth-placed finish in the Premier League has been hit by the news that midfielder Tim Cahill will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury.
The 28-year-old Australia international missed the opening weeks of the campaign due to a similar problem and suffered a recurrence early on in last weekend's 1-1 draw with West ham United.
Toffees boss David Moyes told the club's official website: "Tim Cahill has a broken foot. I think it is obvious that he will be out for the rest of the season."
Cahill has scored ten goals this season in 28 appearances, helping the Blues challenge city rivals Liverpool for fourth place and the final Champions League qualification spot.
Meanwhile, Lyon midfielder Kim Kallstrom has welcomed rumours linking him with a move to Merseyside for next season.
He commented: "At the moment I'm concentrating on playing in France. Lyon is a great club and I hope I stay there for a long time.
"It's the first time I've heard anything about it (Everton's interest), so I don't know actually. But, why not? It's a great club that plays at the top of the Premier League. You never know, we'll see in the summer after the Euros."
