Fergie questions Wembley semis

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes staging the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley devalues the competition.[LNB] There was a time when the opportunity to tread the hallowed turf was restricted to those who graced a cup final and those fortunate enough to represent their country.[LNB]However, times have changed and now a last-four place in knockout competition is enough to earn a day out at the home of English football.[LNB]Ferguson's United are set to meet Everton at Wembley on 19th April for the right to face either Chelsea, Arsenal or Hull City in the FA Cup final.[LNB]Toffees boss David Moyes has been critical of the decision to host the game in the capital, and his sentiments have been echoed by his managerial counterpart at Old Trafford.[LNB]"I agree with David that playing the semi-finals at Wembley devalues the cup," Ferguson told United Review.[LNB]"This is a decision by the FA that pushes up costs for the fans.[LNB]"It is likely the price of tickets at Wembley will be a lot higher than if the game was at Villa Park.[LNB]"Wembley should be reserved for finals, and the least the FA can do now is reduce the Wembley prices to a level more in keeping with those of club tickets."[LNB]
