Amid the usual clatter of cutlery and buzz of conversation in the England dining room, wide-eyed newcomer Leighton Baines was listening rather than talking. For a while he was, anyway. Suddenly he was doing neither, as even seasoned England regulars like John Terry and Steven Gerrard adopted a respectful silence. Fabio Capello had entered the room. Baines smiles at the memory of his introduction to the Capello effect, before last week's Wembley win over Egypt. He now understands why Wayne Rooney, raised on the mean streets of Croxteth, admits the England coach scares the living daylights out of him.
