Victor Anichebe has been left in no doubt that his Everton future could hinge on ensuring there is no repeat of the petulance which led to him being escorted off the training ground a year ago.

The striker, 21, marked his return to fitness with an outstanding goal at Birmingham last Saturday.

Everton manager David Moyes said: 'There was a period against Birmingham when he was practically unplayable. It is up to him whether he does become that good. His performance and training will dictate that. The penny is beginning to drop.'
