Everton's Jermaine Beckford cut down to size by David Moyes
Jermaine Beckford departed Molineux with his seventh Premier League goal. And a flea in his ear from an angry David Moyes.[LNB]The Everton forward engaged in a slanging match with his manager after being substituted in the second-half and the Scot was not amused at having his decision questioned.[LNB]It appeared that confusion over whether Beckford had relayed a message to the bench that he was tired had caused a breakdown in communications.[LNB] Happy chappy: Jermaine Beckford grabbed his ninth goal of the season against Wolves[LNB]But answering back to Moyes isn't the brightest idea, given the position of power he occupies at Goodison Park. Indeed, the Glaswegian has been known to jump into the dug-out on occasion to hammer home his point if players step out of line.[LNB]And if former Leeds man Beckford thinks he will emerge victorious from this tussle, he will have to think again.[LNB]While the Toffees' boss was pleased overall with the player's contribution, his compliments were tinged with a clear warning.[LNB] Not so happy chappy: Beckford's reaction to being substituted did not sit well with boss David Moyes[LNB]'I was upset with him,' said Moyes. 'He accepted what I said - I don't think he had any choice. I told him that this is what you do at Everton. Everyone knows the team comes before everything else.[LNB]'Iset certain standards. I wanted him to run more in the second-half. He's on the verge of being a very good player. Of achieving some really good things. If he really wants to do it, it's there for him.[LNB]'Nine goals in all competitions is a good return. I'm not surprised he has scored them, because that's what he has always done. But if you are part of a team, then you need to do the team-work. And he needs to put up with his manager shouting at him.' [LNB]Beckford's header laid the platform for a victory that could have been far more emphatic as Wolves found themselves strangely out-of-sorts.[LNB]Home skipper Karl Henry did not mince his words at the final whistle, either. He headed home to watch the match again on DVD. And it would have made uncomfortable viewing after Beckford's opener.[LNB]'At times I think we were amateurish,' he said. 'We were all over the place on occasions. They are a good side, they aren't seventh, or whatever, by accident. But we wouldn't win a Championship game playing like that, let alone one in the Premier League.[LNB]'We know we are in a tough spot and defending like that isn't going to keep us up. In my eyes, that was uncharacteristic.[LNB]'I've always believed we would get out of this. I'm going home now to watch the game again - but it felt like we were awful at times. We've had a good talk in there. We need to get our performance levels back to where they were. We've got it all to do now.'
