Moyes, who also won the award in 2003 and 2005, is the first manager to win it three times. He said: 'It's been a very difficult season with some injuries and I am incredibly honoured by this award.' Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who was preparing his side for their Champions League final in Rome, won the LMA Special Merit Award and was also named the Barclays Premier League manager of the year. Ferguson's son, Darren, was rewarded with the League One manager's award after guiding Peterborough to promotion. Randy Lerner, the Aston Villa chairman, will not be investing heavily in the transfer window this summer. The American, who spent £47 million on eight players last summer, said this was not because of the recession but because he did not want to deviate from the spending plan he drew up when he bought the club. Everton's Dan Gosling has confirmed that it is 'just a matter of time' before he pledges his long-term future to the FA Cup finalists.
