Everton's £6m Wheater bid blocked by Boro as Wolves chase giant striker
Everton have had a £6million bid rejected for Middlesbrough defender David Wheater.
David Moyes finalised a £4.5m deal for Portsmouth's Sylvain Distin on Thursday.
Barclays Premier League new-boys Wolves, meanwhile, are trying to sign 6ft 7in Rapid Vienna striker Stefan Maierhofer on loan for the season.
Mick McCarthy also hopes to sign midfielder Segundo Castillo from Red Star Belgrade on loan.
