Everton quiet on Lescott

Everton have declined to comment on reports that want-away defender Joleon Lescott trained separately from the rest of David Moyes' squad on Wednesday morning.

The Manchester City target appeared to unsettle his colleagues in their embarrassing 6-1 defeat at home to Arsenal on Saturday.

And it has been rumoured that the 27-year-old was forced to train away from the rest of his team-mates as the Toffees prepare for Thursday's Europa League play-off with Czech outfit Sigma Olomouc.

Lescott has handed in a transfer request after two City bids for his services were rejected, though his isolation could suggest that he is close to engineering a move away from Goodison Park.

"We will not be making any comment on this," confirmed a club spokesman.

Manchester City are yet to make a third bid for the player, although discussions are understood to be ongoing.
