Everton FC's David Moyes warns Mersey derby ref Andre Marriner to be wary of Liverpool's Luis Suarez

EVERTON manager David Moyes has warned Merseyside derby referee Andre Marriner to be wary of Liverpool FC striker Luis Suarez’s attempts to con officials – because he fears divers will turn fans away from the game. The Everton boss has not forgotten the Uruguayan striker’s histrionics which led to Jack Rodwell’s red card – later rescinded – in last season’s clash at Goodison. Ahead of tomorrow’s showdown with the Reds, Moyes wants the FA to put an end to players feigning injury or fouls before it has a detrimental effect on top flight attendances. He said: “It is unfair to talk about the sending offs without talking about the decisions ... last year’s one was a dive and a real poor decision by the referee. “I think he (Suarez) has got history. But I am not the referee, I am not the one that does that. “But I tell you what it will do – it will turn supporters away from football. But it will turn supporters away from it if they think players are conning their way to results. “People like to see things done in the main correctly. If a ball hits your hand, of course you are going to claim for it. And you will take every decision you get. “But when people are out to manufacture it, supporters in general will not like it.”
