Everton warned to resolve Steven Pienaar contract talks before World Cup

The 28-year-old midfielder was voted Everton's player of the season and manager David Moyes has said he does not believe it is in Pienaar's best interests to leave Goodison Park. [LNB]But Pienaar's agent, Ivan Modia has said the clock is ticking and that other big clubs have expressed an interest in the 28-year-old. [LNB]"My guess is that if, by the first match of the World Cup 2010 we have been unable to take Steven an improved offer then he will assume Everton's position is final," Modia told the Mail. [LNB]"The club are very busy concluding other layers on long-term deals, most of whom have longer to run on their contract than Pienaar. [LNB]"That could mean one of three things: Either they wish to conclude other business before making a final offer, or it could mean they have decided to sell him, or that they are satisfied that Pienaar walks away in 12 months as a free agent. [LNB]"At the moment it is unlikely that we can find a solution before the World Cup. He is very loyal to the club and it is up to what Everton want to do. [LNB]"I am aware of the interest of some big clubs." [LNB]Despite Modia's views Everton have said discussions with Pienaar, who has one-year left on his contract, are not likely to take place until mid-July when the World Cup has finished. [LNB]
