Everton v Tottenham preview

Everton could leapfrog Aston Villa in fifth place should they claim only their third ever victory over Tottenham at Goodison Park.[LNB] The Toffees, who remarkably have only beaten their London rivals twice on home soil, are already assured of a place in Europe with three matches left to play.[LNB]However, fifth place would see David Moyes' side into the play-off round for the Europa League as opposed to a third qualifying round tie.[LNB]Should they win the FA Cup final Everton will automatically enter the play-off round regardless of their league standing.[LNB]Defeat to Manchester City last time out ended a seven-match winning streak at Goodison which is sure to be fresh in the players' minds.[LNB]They can, however, take comfort in the knowledge that they are bidding for the double over Harry Redknapp's side after beating their capital rivals 1-0 at White Hart Lane back in November. [LNB]Spurs newsSpurs themselves are in pursuit of possible entry into Europe as they maintain their challenge on seventh-place West Ham.[LNB]No doubt full of confidence, Redknapp's side have won six of their last nine Premier League games.[LNB]Their home record is far superior to their away form though, with just one win recorded in their last five on the road.[LNB]And, having conceded seven goals in their last two away games, Redknapp will no doubt be looking to tighten things up at the back heading into Sunday's tie.[LNB]Team newsEverton will be without Phil Jagielka, who was stretchered off in the defeat to Manchester City last weekend.[LNB]The 26-year-old will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on a cruciate ligament injury.[LNB]Defender Tony Hibbert has been ruled out with a neck injury which kept him out of last weekend's win over Sunderland.[LNB]Both Lars Jacobsen and Leon Osman will face late fitness tests.[LNB]Spurs will be without winger Aaron Lennon who is struggling with a groin strain and remains sidelined.[LNB]Benoit Assou-Ekotto is ruled out by a foot problem, while David Bentley (hamstring) is a doubt and Jamie O'Hara (knee) is facing surgery.[LNB]Didier Zokora, Michael Dawson and Darren Bent will all miss the trip to Goodison Park through injury.
