Match Preview

Everton take on Bolton Wanderers at Goodison Park on Saturday afternoon aiming for another three points that would aid their European qualification aspirations.

The Toffees sit in ninth spot and well off the pace for the continental places but a couple of wins would soon bring renewed hope and optimism.

With the Trotters making the short trip to Merseyside, Everton will want to inflict further away-day misery upon Owen Coyle's men.

They have lost nine games on the road this term and went down 4-0 at Sunderland last time out.

Sam Ricketts was dismissed in the Stadium of Light capitulation and he will miss the clash at the weekend through suspension.

However, they have won three of their previous four clashes, including a 2-1 win at West Ham United, to edge away from the relegation places and into 13th position.

David Moyes' side are enjoying a golden run of form, winning their previous six Premier League games on home soil recently.

Wins over Burnley in December, Manchester City and Sunderland in January, impressive back-to-back successes against Chelsea and Manchester United last month and a thumping 5-1 rout versus Hull City on March 7 has boosted confidence which had been flagging.

A further triumph would add pressure on Birmingham City, Aston Villa, Man City and Liverpool, who all sit directly above in the table.

Bolton are with a number of first-team players through injury.

Stuart Holden (broken leg), Mark Davies (ankle), Gary Cahill (arm), Chris Basham (knee), Gavin McCann (foot) and Sean Davis (cruciate ligament) are all missing.

Everton will still be without the services of four key stars for the clash on Saturday afternoon.
