Steven Pienaar will be offered a new long-term deal by Everton to keep him from the clutches of Atletico Madrid. Steven Pienaar The South Africa midfielder admitted being flattered by interest from Atletico but will be granted his wish of a contract extension at Goodison Park after rounding off an outstanding season with an impressive performance in last month's FA Cup final defeat by Chelsea. With less than two years left on his current agreement, Pienaar welcomed Everton's initiative, saying: 'I am delighted to have played a small part in the success we've had at Everton. 'I am a proud Everton player at present and would welcome it if the club moved to secure my long-term future.' Manager David Moyes is adamant he will not be selling any of his Cup final squad, but that will not deter Manchester City from pressing ahead with a £15million offer for Joleon Lescott this week. Everton are still considering competing with Aston Villa for Michael Owen.
