Everton defenders Phil Jagielka and Joseph Yobo have agreed new five-year deals, the club have announced. Nigerian defender Yobo has brought to and end uncertainty about his future by signing a new contract before next week's FA Cup final against Chelsea. There were claims that Yobo, a 3.5 million buy from Marseille six years ago following a spell on loan, was unsettled because he felt other players were being paid more than him and he had failed to regain his regular starting place following injury. Jagielka, currently recovering from a knee ligament operation which is likely to sideline him until the middle of August, was this week named the Toffees' player of the season. He put in numerous impressive performances in central defence and scored the penalty which beat Manchester United in their semi-final shoot-out to book a place in the FA Cup final against Chelsea. Reports earlier this week had suggested Yobo was unsettled at the club but his agreement of a new deal puts paid to any thoughts of him leaving Goodison Park. "Everton are delighted contract negotiations with both Joseph Yobo and Phil Jagielka have now been successfully concluded," said a club statement. "Both players will sign new five-year deals with the club imminently." Jagielka's agent John Shittu said:'There is no question of wage parity as Yobo is already one of the club's best paid players. 'He was the first player to break Everton's wage structure when he signed the present renewal three years ago and I can tell you we have agreed a new five-year deal in principle which he's likely to sign before the FA Cup final. 'Everton were happy to give Yobo the new deal even at 28-years-old and he also loves to stay with the club. 'At any rate he does not want to leave the United Kingdom and would only consider a move if it is to any of Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea or Arsenal. 'It's a good deal and we are happy with it.'
