David Moyes is to rival West Ham in a move for Hoffenheim striker Demba Ba after being priced out of the race to sign Monaco hitman Dieumerci Mbokani. However, much will depend on 25-year-old Ba's medical report.

After his proposed move to Stoke fell through after failing a medical last week, there are concerns that the Senegal international will not be fit until April.

On the move? Demba Ba

Following the sale of Steven Pienaar to Tottenham and Yakubu's loan to Leicester, Moyes has some resources to bring in a forward to Goodison Park on loan.

The Everton boss said: 'I asked about Mbokani and was willing to get him. We made an offer to get him on loan. But there were bigger offers from others around. I think Monaco have a couple of permanent deals for him.'
