An Everton kit launched to raise money in memory of murdered schoolboy Rhys Jones is proving a massive hit with fans. The limited edition purple design has become the club's fastest selling pre-ordered shirt. Everton hope to raise £100,000 for the Liverpool Unites children's charity, which was inspired by both the Reds and Blues coming together in Liverpool following the death of Jones in August 2007. The club's retro blue home strip, launched this summer, had already broken records, but pre-orders of the new shirt are three times more popular. The shirt will be seen in public for the first time at a dinner at Club Everton, Goodison Park, on Thursday, October 29. It will be available the following day from Everton club shops and via the club's official website. The shirts are presented in a special presentation box with a numbered certificate. Liverpool Unites fundraiser Tom Woolley said: 'The fact that this has become Everton's fastest ever selling shirt is great news and really underlines the level of support Liverpool Unites has received from the people of Merseyside.' The charity is supported by Stephen and Melanie Jones, the parents of Rhys, who died after being shot in the Croxteth Park estate area of Liverpool.
