As the festive season approaches, we have put together a special online 12 days of Christmas with an Everton FC twist. A new installment will be online at www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/efc and www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/efc each day up to the 25th[LNB] Howard Kendall is undoubtedly one of the best players and managers Everton FC have ever had. First plying his trade as part of the great midfield triumvirate of Ball, Harvey and Kendall, he scooped the 1969-70 league championship on the field. In the dugout though, his successes were even greater. [LNB]In six years in charge of the Blues, Kendall brought two leagues, an FA Cup and a European Cup Winners' Cup to Goodison Park. Things didn't start so easily for Kendall however. His first batch of transfers in the 1981-82 season were a mixed bunch. Some famous and some infamous, here are Kendall's 'magnificent seven':[LNB] Neville Southall: One of EFC's greatest servants and an inspired signing. For more on Big Nev, see our first day of Everton FC Christmas - one Neville Southall.[LNB]Jim Arnold: Made 59 appearances in the Blues goal after arriving from Blackburn Rovers. Moved to Port Vale in 1985 where he achieved some success, being voted the club's Player of the Year for 1986. After an early period of contesting the number one shirt with Southall, Big Nev made it his in 1983.[LNB]Alan Ainscow: Made 25 appearances for the Blues and scored three goals after signing from Birmingham City. Had a spell on loan at Barnsley before leaving Merseyside for Hong Kong to play for Eastern AA.[LNB]See next page for the rest of the 'magnificent seven' >>>>>>>
