Everton boss Moyes splashes Lescott cash on £10m Russian Bilyaletdinov

David Moyes wasted no time dipping into his £23million windfall for Joleon Lescott last night, lining up a £10m deal for Russia winger Diniyar Bilyaletdinov. The Everton manager bemoaned the lack of time for recruiting at the back, after finally losing Lescott to Manchester City, but further reinforced his midfield by agreeing a move for Lokomotiv Moscow captain Bilyaletdinov, who has scored twice in 28 appearances for Russia on the left flank. The Everton boss aimed a bitter parting shot at Manchester City after they finally landed Lescott. Bids of £15m and £18m were rejected by Everton, and after being told City were claiming a deal had been agreed, believed to be for £23m, he sarcastically replied: 'If they are saying it's well advanced, then it must be. 'All I know is that it should never have taken this long for the correct amount of money to be offered. Real Madrid paid Manchester United the going rate for Cristiano Ronaldo a week after the end of last season. There's no way we should have been kept waiting this long.' City are also close to securing a deal for former Arsenal leftback Silvinho. The Brazilian is available from Barcelona on a free transfer.
