Everton 3 Bolton 0: Brazilian proves he's no ordinary Jo

Everton[LNB]have found two heroes in less than a week. On Wednesday night it was a teenage Devonian called Dan Gosling, who shot down arch-rivals Liverpool in a gruelling FA Cup replay.[LNB]On Saturday it was an out-of-sorts Brazilian striker they have borrowed from Manchester City for the rest of the season and who had to sit out the Merseyside derby because he was cup-tied.[LNB] Hair today: On-loan Jo celebrates his first goal for Everton[LNB] Everton v Bolton: How the game unfolded[LNB]EVERTON NEWS FROM ACROSS THE WEB[LNB]BOLTON NEWS FROM ACROSS THE WEB[LNB]Man City 1-0 Middlesbrough[LNB]Backburn 0-2 A Villa[LNB]Chelsea 0-0 Hull[LNB]Sunderland 2-0 Stoke[LNB]West Brom 2-3 Newcastle[LNB]Wigan 0-0 Fulham[LNB]Whatever stunted Jo's progress at City, after an £18million move from CSKA Moscow, he fully justified Everton manager David Moyes' gamble to hand him his debut against Bolton by scoring two goals.[LNB]Short of match fitness and low in confidence, but sporting a hairstyle every bit as flamboyant as another Goodison favourite, Marouane Fellaini, he revelled in this opportunity to get his career back on track. A few early touches that were typically Brazilian endeared him to Everton fans and they were singing his praises long before the end.[LNB]'I wasn't planning to play Jo today but I had to because of our injury situation,' said the Everton manager. 'His performance surprised me only because I had not seen him play like that for City but I knew what he could do through watching him when he was with CSKA Moscow.'[LNB] Three and easy: Jo scores against Bolton[LNB] [LNB]Everton took the lead after 40 minutes, when Jo was tripped by Bolton's Andy O'Brien and Mikel Arteta scored from the penalty spot.[LNB]Then, four minutes into the second half, Jo turned brilliantly to control Phil Neville's lofted pass, completely wrongfooting the impressive Gary Cahill, before scoring.[LNB]And at 6ft 3in, Jo (left) provided Everton with something they have been lacking for the last two months, a proper target man.[LNB] Close call: Everton's Tim Cahill, right, vies for the ball with Bolton Wanderers' Gretar Steinsson[LNB]Everton, superbly prompted by Leighton Baines, Arteta and Leon Osman, bossed this game until the latter stages. But for some resolute defending, particularly by Gary Cahill, their winning margin would have been much wider.[LNB]In added time, Mark Davies handled Gosling's cross and, with Arteta having been replaced a few minutes earlier, Jo rolled Everton's second penalty of the afternoon past Jussi Jaaskelainen Bolton boss Gary Megson admitted: 'We were shocking today. It was a complete waste of 90 minutes and if we play like that we will be relegated.'
