Everton 2 Liverpool 2: match report

28 October 2012 15:30
Everton overturned a two goal derby deficit at Goodison Park to claim a point in a typically fractious Merseyside derby. An enthralling encounter thrust Luis Suarez into centre stage. The Uruguayan claimed two - although his first will be registered as a Leighton Baines own goal - embarked on controversial goal celebration and then had what he thought was the winner dubiously ruled out for offside in injury time. Liverpool sped ahead, Suarez seeking the applause for both, although his first, on 14 minutes, bounced in off Leighton Baines. Suarez had struck from a tight angle after Nuri Sahin's cross, and the Everton full-back was helpless as the ferocious strike rebounded from his shin.
