Mick McCarthy defended Wolves' tough tackling approach, which allowed them to emerge from Goodison Park with an unexpected point after overcoming Everton's first-half dominance.[LNB]Substitute Adlene Guedioura's crunching tackle on John Heitinga midway through the second half allowed Wolves to break and equalise after referee Lee Martin ignored Everton's protests. [LNB]The goal by Sylvan Ebanks-Blake wiped out the slender lead secured by Tim Cahill just before half-time. McCarthy said: 'They complained about the tackle on Heitinga but I thought it was a brilliant tackle he got the ball. We deserved our equaliser and created some chances after that as well.'[LNB]Fine finish: Tim Cahill (right) beats Wolves keeper Marcus Hahnemann[LNB] [LNB] Wolves' equaliser was especially frustrating for Everton manager David Moyes, who watched his side dominate without really testing goalkeeper Marcus Hahnemann in front of England manager Fabio Capello. [LNB]But Moyes refused to blame the visitors' physical approach and insisted Everton should have made the game safe a long time before the equaliser. [LNB]'I'm one of the managers who doesn't want to get rid of tackling from the game because I think it's important,' he said. [LNB] In control: Everton's Jermaine Beckford, right, battles with Christophe Berra[LNB] 'The boy jumps in and is definitely on the top of the ball when he gets it, but I would still hope that we came away with the ball and not them.' [LNB]Everton's lack of cutting edge only served to heighten Moyes's frustration at his failure to land Craig Bellamy after being unable to afford his wages for a season-long loan. [LNB]Their pressure finally told shortly before halftime when Stephen Ward appeared to trip Cahill just inside the penalty area, only for referee Mason to rule the offence was committed outside the box. [LNB]  Midfield tussle: Everton's Mikel Arteta holds off George Elokobi [LNB] [LNB]It was perhaps poetic justice when Arteta's freekick deflected off the Wolves wall to Cahill, who turned and drove into the roof of the net. But Everton failed to capitalise on further opportunities and allowed Wolves to earn a point. [LNB]McCarthy added: 'We were hopeless in the first half abject. It's my responsibility because I was trying to stop Everton playing and I was fiddling around with the team and none ofit worked.'[LNB] Everton, West Ham and Spurs on alert as Remy's Marseille move in doubtEverton boss Moyes insists he will not be forced to sell Pienaar on the cheapSign up to our FREE Fantasy Football game - with £40,000 in prize money up for grabsEverton star Rodwell good enough to play for England, insists catpain Neville [LNB]
