    European Blues for Neville

    08 May 2009 - 13:56:49

Everton skipper Phil Neville has admitted Chelsea's Champions League exit also came as a blow to the Merseyside club.

Chelsea lost out to Barcelona in a dramatic European semi-final on Wednesday night and Neville revealed he was rooting for the London club.

Had Chelsea reached the Champions League Final then it would have taken place 72 hours before they are scheduled to meet the Toffees in the FA Cup Final.

Instead, they will now be focused on the May 30 Wembley showdown with David Moyes' side.

"From Everton's point of view we wanted Chelsea to get to the Champions League Final because it's obviously three days before the final," Neville told the club's official website.

"From Chelsea's point of view they get a full week's preparation.

"It's the FA Cup Final at the end of the day, it's the only competition they can win, the only competition we can win, so I think they'll be well rested and highly motivated."
