    Davies hints at exit

    10 Oct 2006 - 11:02:25

Everton midfielder Simon Davies has admitted that he could leave the club in the January transfer window after growing frustrated at his lack of first-team opportunities under boss David Moyes.

The 26-year-old Wales international has started only one Premiership game - against Watford on the opening day of the season - so far this term.

"If the situation hasn't changed by January I may have to consider my position," said the former Peterborough United and Tottenham star.

"I had a really good pre-season and feel I'm probably playing better then I was last season, so I came back feeling positive.

"Everton are using two or three holding players in midfield, but I'm not going to question the manager. It's been successful so far but we haven't got a big squad and injuries and suspensions are going to kick in at some stage.

"When my chance comes I've got to be ready to take it. We don't have a big squad, but they're all quality players, and that just makes me more determined to get back in the team.

"I'm working hard every day in training and I'm confident I'll get back in the side."

Meanwhile, Republic of Ireland boss Steve Staunton has called Lee Carsley into his squad for Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier against the Czech Republic.
