David Moyes tells Hull's Phil Brown: You're a victim of your own success

Everton manager David Moyes believes Hull counterpart Phil Brown has become avictim of his own early success in the Barclays Premier League.[LNB]Only a couple of weeks ago the Tigers boss appeared to be one match away from the sack but four points from two games seems to have given him some breathing space.[LNB]A year ago there was fanciful talk of qualifying for Europe after a dream start to Hull's maiden top-flight campaign, only for them to struggle desperately after Christmas and escape relegation by a point.[LNB] Write caption here[LNB]Moyes believes that start to their debut season has now come back to haunt Brown.[LNB]'Phil has done a very good job. He got them up, they had an unbelievable start to the Premier League and the way it worked for them has not gone in his favour,' the Toffees boss said ahead of tonight's match at the KC Stadium.[LNB]'If they had stayed up by the skin of their teeth people might have said he had done a great job but because they got so far up and then dropped away it was more noticeable.[LNB]'He kept them in the Premier League - would anyone else have expected an awful lot more from his first season?[LNB]Suspended: Everton's Marouane Fellaini [LNB]'I think he is there or thereabouts this season. They are out of the bottom three at this moment in time and I think for Phil and Hull that is positive for them.'[LNB]Everton have won at the KC Stadium already this season, 4-0 in the Carling Cup, but since then the side have had difficulties of their own.[LNB]They have won once in nine matches in all competitions and Moyes is keen for his injury-ravaged squad to start turning things around.[LNB]'Our cup win at Hull was a good result at the time,' he said. 'It has sort of all changed since then and we go there now looking to pick up a valuable three points.[LNB]'We will need to pick up our form. We have set some high standards over the last few seasons and I'd like us to finish as high as we can.'[LNB]The Premier League has had some unusual results this season and the establishedorder is now being challenged by the likes of Tottenham, Aston Villa, Manchester City and Sunderland.[LNB]On current form Moyes admits he would prefer a return to 'normality', when his side were usually comfortably placed in one of the European places.[LNB]'I'd rather finish fifth and it be the same as it was with us pushing for fourth than how it is now,' he said.[LNB]'The Premier League has thrown up several results and the unpredictability comes from some teams spending some money and some of the bottom teams beatingsome of the top teams.[LNB]'What it does mean is the league looks tighter all round. If anyone can go on a run of three or four wins it could put you in a really good position and that is what we are trying to do.'[LNB]Midfielders Diniyar Bilyaletdinov and Marouane Fellaini are suspended for tonight's match, adding to Moyes' selection problems which worsened yesterday when captain Phil Neville had to undergo minor surgery to repair a torn knee ligament.[LNB] The List: Everton v Liverpool special - Sportsmail's Merseyside derby heroesCaptain Neville adds to Everton's injury woes after aggravating knee problemVennegoor of Hesselink set for place on bench as Brown opts for Altidore EVERTON FC
