David Moyes overdue a cup run with Everton

The Everton manager has taken his team to sixth in the Premier League this season, but they have been knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round in the last two seasons. Last year they were defeated by League 1 side Oldham.[LNB]"I was very disappointed we went out of the competition at an early stage last season. I don't want that to happen again," he said. "The boys are playing really well at the minute. Long may it continue and we are all looking forward to the game. We want to do well in the FA Cup. It's been a long time since we had a run in it." [LNB]They are in good company. Their opponents have never been beyond the third round. In fact, the last time that Macclesfield faced a Premier League team in the competition, Chelsea two seasons ago, they were thrashed 6-1.[LNB]With average attendances of around 2,000, Macclesfield have the slightly unfortunate tag of being the one of the worst supported Football League clubs in the country. However, a 6,000-strong crowd is expected at the Cheshire club's Moss Rose stadium for what will be the first time the two sides have meet in a competitive encounter.[LNB]Having conceded nine goals in their last three matches, the home side would be forgiven for approaching the game with some trepidation. They ended last year on a high, however, with a 3-1 win over Chester.[LNB]"It's nice to go into the tie on the back of a win," said Macclesfield manager Keith Alexander, whose side contains John Rooney, brother of former Goodison hero Wayne.[LNB]"Everton's a different game. People keep telling me they've got no forwards but they keep winning every week so it'll be tough." [LNB]
