David Moyes believes Everton FA Cup heartache will inspire Wembley charge

DAVID MOYES has revealed how he will use the loneliness and disappointment of Everton's FA Cup final defeat as inspiration to go all the way in the competition this time.[LNB]The Blues boss was shattered after his team knocked out Aston Villa, Middlesbrough, Liverpool and Manchester United - only to lose against Chelsea in the show-piece event at Wembley last season.[LNB]Now he wants another big day out in the capital in May, and intends to get things started by dispensing with Carlisle United in their third round tie at Goodison today.[LNB]And the Scot does not believe his squad will suffer a psychological hangover from the 2-1 defeat by Chelsea.[LNB]He said: 'With the conversations we had with the players, they enjoyed the feeling of getting there and okay, we didn't enjoy it afterwards but it was something we wanted to achieve.[LNB]'It was always going to be a tough ask to beat Chelsea but we had beaten big teams going into it and we were playing well, so I felt disappointed by it and quite lonely when you don't win. But overall to finish fifth and get to the cup final wasn't a bad year for Everton. I saw that as progress so after the initial disappointment, I felt that there was something to shout about.[LNB]'The next bet is to go and win if we can. You need the luck of the draw but we did not have it there.[LNB]'In other years we have pulled out Shrewsbury and Oldham and thought 'that was a good draw' - and some of the draws last year made you think 'gee-whizz' but we got through so it is a difficult thing at the moment and we have to hope we can do it again.[LNB]'I think what happens is that the best teams want to do it again and again. Every time United win the league they want to win it again the next year, and that is what my attitude is.[LNB]'We got to the final and we need to get to the final again next year, because that will give us a chance of winning it. You can only do that one step at a time and the first step is Carlisle.'[LNB]Moyes insists he is not haunted by the memories of being knocked out of the cup during his Everton reign by lower league sides Oldham Athletic and Shrewsbury Town.[LNB]But he believes his players can help him erase the lingering bad memories from his mind by not slipping-up against Greg Abbott's side.[LNB]He said: 'They are erased a bit by beating Liverpool and Manchester United and Boro at home so it was a tough run in the cup for us.[LNB]"But I can't just erase them completely, they are there and the players know they cannot afford any slip-ups. But there will be slip-ups somewhere.[LNB]'The memories of the final are good. OK we didn't enjoy it on the day but we don't need to erase the memories, we need to erase the defeat.[LNB]'There are always things in the third round stage that don't go to plan.
