Clarets hope for Eagles stay

Eddie Howe is determined to retain the services of key man Chris Eagles after Everton, QPR and Swansea were linked to the Burnley star.[LNB] The Clarets have already allowed three players to head for the exits this summer - with Chris Iwelumo offloaded to Watford, Graham Alexander released and Clarke Carlisle loaned to Preston.[LNB]Howe is reluctant to sanction any more departures and has no intention of parting with those players he considers to be integral to the club's future.[LNB]That means in-demand winger Eagles will be staying at Turf Moor.[LNB]The former Manchester United forward has been linked with several Premier League clubs, with Queens Park Rangers, Everton and Swansea all reported to be keen.[LNB]Howe insists Eagles is going nowhere, though, and has also played down speculation suggesting Portsmouth have lodged a bid for fit-again striker Martin Paterson.[LNB]"There's always people circling, but there is no new news regarding any of our players," he told the Lancashire Telegraph.[LNB]"I've said all along I want to keep the squad together, keep our best players, and hopefully we can do that and bring in some new ones the other way."
