Everton's appeal against Lee Carsley's sending-off in the 3-0 defeat at
Chelsea has been rejected by the Football Association.
The 32-year-old midfielder was shown a straight red card by referee Rob Styles for a challenge on Didier Drogba two minutes after half-time.
Toffees boss David Moyes said straight after the game: "The sending-off was harsh.
"The referee ran in and made a mistake, which let's be fair ruined the game for everyone who had paid to come.
"It's a simple fact. The tackle was a little bit reckless, but it was not a sending-off.
Carsley's season is now at a premature end as he will serve a three-match suspension.
