Cahill waits on scan
13 Nov 2006 - 10:53:56
Everton midfielder Tim Cahill will have a scan on Monday to determine the full extent of his knee injury.
The Australian was caught by team-mate Lee Carsley midway through the first half of Saturday's home defeat to Aston Villa and has already been forced to pull out his country's international friendly against Ghana at Loftus Road.
Everton physio Mick Rathbone told the club's official website: "I've looked at it in slow motion on the video tape and he's obviously hyper-extended his knee.
"The consultant came down at half-time to have a look at him, but we don't want to make a diagnosis until we've got all the facts.
"He's a bit sore right now so he'll probably have a scan on Monday.
"He had the same sort of injury when he went in to a tackle with Jamie Redknapp against Spurs a couple of years ago and he was okay the week after, so there's a thread of comfort there.
"But, as I say, I can't say too much until we've got all the scans and had a good look at it. When you wait for 24 hours or so you get a much better picture.
"I've seen a couple of those in the past where it has looked really bad but the actual damage has been relatively minor."
