Cahill targets July return
29 May 2007 - 13:34:22
Everton midfielder Tim Cahill hopes he will be able to play for Australia this summer as he battles back from a broken metatarsal.
The former Millwall star has been sidelined for almost three months since suffering the injury in the 1-1 draw at Sheffield United and needed an operation to pin the bone back together.
Cahill hopes to feature in Australia's opening Asia Cup game against Oman on July 8, saying: "Oman is a realistic option.
"I don't want to be setting definitive dates but I want to be fit for the Asia Cup and that's what I'm aiming for. I want to be ready to go to Singapore on June 20 for the camp to acclimatise.
"The bone looks like it has healed brilliantly. In two weeks, I'll be ready to twist and turn but I'll be joining up with the boys this week and running around the pitch. I'm looking forward to it."
Meanwhile, Toffees boss David Moyes is being linked with a £4million swoop for Sheffield United midfielder Phil Jagielka.
