Cahill targets derby return

Everton's star midfielder Tim Cahill could make a shock return to action in Saturday's Merseyside derby against Liverpool at Goodison Park.

The 27-year-old Australia international has yet to feature this season due to a foot injury, but is back in training with the rest of the Toffees squad.

Manager David Moyes told the Daily Post: "Tim started training on Monday and we are pleased to have him back.

"There is no doubt we have missed him since he's been out.

"He is a goalscoring central midfielder with drive and when you look at the goals he has scored for Everton in the past three years, he has been a big part of our success.

"This a big period for us. We gave the players a few days off last week after a difficult period and gave them a chance to relax.

"From Saturday, we have a lot of big games and need them fresh."

Cahill joined the Toffees for £1.5million from Millwall in the summer of 2004 and has scored 27 goals in 98 appearances for Everton.
