Cahill shrugs off heel concerns
20 Nov 2008 - 12:37:32
Everton midfielder Tim Cahill should be fit enough to face Wigan Athletic this weekend after playing in virtually all of Australia's World Cup qualifier against Bahrain.
The 28-year-old former Millwall star played for 87 minutes as the Socceroos won 1-0 despite struggling recently with a heel injury.
Head physio Mick Rathbone said: "My information from the Australian medical team was that Tim was essentially okay.
"He'll now fly back and he should be fine."
However, there are doubts about the fitness of Marouane Fellaini and Steven Pienaar, with Rathbone adding: "Fellaini has a very slight groin strain which he felt in the game against Middlesbrough.
"He then joined up with the Belgium squad but they agreed with our assessment and sent him back. He's now having treatment ahead of the game against Wigan.
"Pienaar has a sore knee. We'll have to see how he goes in the next few days and see if he's okay."
