Everton midfielder Tim Cahill claims David Moyes signing a new contract is vital for the club's continuing ability to challenge at the top end of the Premier League.
Moyes is believed to be on the verge of putting pen to paper on a lucrative new five-year contract to remain at the Goodison Park helm.
The Scot led the Toffees into Europe last season after finishing fifth in the league and Cahill believes his ability to find value in the transfer market is essential to their recent success.
Moyes paid just £1.5milliion to sign Australia international Cahill from Millwall in 2004.
"David Moyes is one of the best bosses in the Premier League and I don't think there's any manager who could have done what he has at Everton," claimed Cahill.
"Look at what he paid for players like me and Mikel Arteta. It wasn't much more than £4million for both of us.
"He should take a lot of credit for putting his faith in players who've put us in a situation where we are playing European football."
