Cahill desperate for Euro return

Everton midfielder Tim Cahill believes the club must qualify for the Europa League at the end of the current campaign if they are to keep hold of their prized assets.

The Goodison Park outfit are five points adrift of rivals Liverpool with three games to go as they seek that elusive seventh position that would ensure qualification and Cahill understands the importance to succeed in their quest.

Speaking to Liverpool Echo, the Australia international said: "The big thing for us is holding on to the players and adding some quality.

"It's going to be difficult because some of the lads' (contracts) are up, and there are other circumstances with a few of the lads. If we can do that it will be a massive season for us.

"If we can't do it, other players are going to look to go elsewhere and look for Champions League football and at this stage in my career it's something I want to do."
