Cahill waits on suspension verdict
Tim Cahill will discover on Thursday whether he is to receive a one or two-match ban for his red card against Germany in the World Cup.[LNB] Football Federation Australia has filed a robust defence of Cahill to the FIFA disciplinary committee as they bid to have the Everton midfielder available for the third Group D match against Serbia in Nelspruit.[LNB]Cahill was sent off by Mexican referee Marco Rodriguez for his tackle on Bastian Schweinsteiger. Schweinsteiger later approached Cahill to offer his sympathy and said he felt it was not a red card offence.[LNB]However, as there was no obvious error from Rodriguez, who made a judgment that the tackle warranted a red, then Cahill cannot appeal the suspension, only the severity.[LNB]FFA chief executive Ben Buckley said Cahill was still coming to terms with his early exit in Durban, but the FFA have used all the resources at their disposal to state their case.[LNB]"Quite rightly he's somewhat disappointed, but our submission is going in this morning," he said. "We've had a very comprehensive review of it.[LNB]"The team that has put the submission together has worked long and hard on putting together a very good submission. We're confident that it will get a good hearing."[LNB]
