Cahill calls for cash
Tim Cahill insists Everton need to splash some cash if they want to push on and become a top-four side.
The Toffees have cemented their place as one of the top six - but the Merseyside club want to move onto the next level and seal a regular UEFA Champions League berth.
Everton managed to break into the top four in 2005 when they overhauled city rivals Liverpool, although as European champions they qualified in any case.
But Cahill is now looking for the club to progress further and he admits that means spending some more money.
"You have to be realistic with the circumstances of finances, and the top-four clubs can blow everyone away at the moment," he told Sky Sports News.
"Where we are, we have to be happy - what the chairman has done, the backers, the manager and the players - all we do is worry about playing football and we let them worry about the financial side - but if we want to improve we have to spend and try and mix it with the best.
"We want to break into the top four, to play in the Champions League is a dream and something we strive towards.
"We have played in Europe and now we have a taste for it, we are in the FA Cup final - we are there and thereabouts but we now have to finish the job."
