The defender spent two years with Pompey but moved on to Goodison Park amid the internal problems that have plagued this club this year.
The Frenchman accepts some fans may not be friendly and said: 'I had to go back at some point.
'It's not a problem for me. I'll be happy to be there, I left a lot of friends and I left on good terms with the players and the staff, so it will be nice to go back.
'It's part of the job. If I left on bad terms it may have been difficult for me. That's not the case so it will be a pleasure for me.
'I had a bad reception from the Newcastle fans at St James' Park and also from the Manchester City fans when I went back, so hopefully this time it will be different.
'My dad tells me that when the fans boo you, it's a sign of love. If they ignore you, it means they don't care. So if they boo or applaud I will take it as a sign of love.
'I would like them to stay in the Premier League because the fans deserve it. I hope we win, though.'
