Blue Boys: Everton FC U-18s held by Bolton
Everton Under-18s boss Kevin Sheedy was left frustrated again when his young side were unable to finish off Bolton Wanderers last weekend.
The Blues came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw at Finch Farm on Saturday afternoon – but Sheedy insists they created enough chances to seal a victory. Everton were looking to bounce back from the previous week’s 1-0 defeat at Reading, which ended a five-game unbeaten run. But they fell behind when Bolton struck first on 25 minutes. Sheedy has long cited errors at the back for the majority of the goals his side has conceded this term – and it was a soft opener again as midfielder Luke Woodland was quickest to react to the ball after it had rebounded off the post. Bolton had only lost once in 13 games beforehand and were eyeing top spot in the division. It took a goal from George Waring to get the Toffees back into the game on 75 minutes. Yet despite pressing in the final stages, the hosts couldn’t find a winner. Sheedy said:
“We’re disappointed. Again it was a soft goal to give away, but we had the possession and openings to override that.”
