ew Everton striker Jermaine Beckford is confident he can make the step up from League One and make a contribution in the top flight.[LNB] Beckford completed his move to Goodison Park in May after his contract expired at Leeds.[LNB]The 26-year-old may be a relatively late arrival in the Premier League - having been playing non-league football with Wealdstone just over four years ago - but is looking forward to the challenge.[LNB]"It is a club I feel I can learn a lot from and I hope I will be able to bring something different to the team," said Beckford, who scored 31 goals in helping Leeds earn promotion to the Championship last season.[LNB]"I'm not setting any real targets at the moment, I'm just looking forward to trying to establish myself here."[LNB]Beckford is currently with the rest of the squad for their pre-season tour of Australia but is keen for the new campaign to start, with Everton kicking off at Blackburn on August 14.[LNB]Beyond that he is looking forward to his first Merseyside derby, at Goodison, in mid-October.[LNB]"There has only been one session with the ball so far. We've done a lot of running but that is what you expect at this time of the pre-season," he said.[LNB]"But everybody has been very welcoming and I've had a great time in the few days I have had so far and I can't wait to get started properly."[LNB]"I am looking forward to every single game but all the boys have been saying that the derbies are special.[LNB]"I am looking forward to hopefully playing and sampling the atmosphere because I've heard it's electric.[LNB]"Goodison is amazing. I've been there once a couple of years ago for a game and the atmosphere was special. I can't wait to play there."
