Baxter released on police bail

Everton striker Jose Baxter has been released on police bail following his arrest for possession of drugs and counterfeit money.

The 17-year-old from Bootle was arrested alongside two other men for possession of cannabis and fake cash in the Kirkby area of Liverpool on Monday.

The Toffees have declined to comment on the news concerning their youngster ever first-team player.

Baxter was aged 16 years and 191 days when he made his debut on the opening day of the 2008/09 season.

"Three men have been arrested in Kirkby on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply and possession of counterfeit money," said a spokesman for Merseyside Police.

"All three men have been released on police bail pending further inquiries."
