Leighton Baines has revealed that he could not envisage getting a game for Everton before Christmas let alone England.[LNB] The 24-year-old was called up to Fabio Capello's squad for the games against Slovakia and Ukraine as a reward for his impressive club form.[LNB]Since the festive period the left-back has started every single game for David Moyes' men after a lengthy spell on the sidelines earlier in the season.[LNB]The former Wigan ace started the season strongly but soon fell out of favour at Goodison Park and at one stage amassed just 15 minutes of football off the bench in nine games.[LNB]"Everything has happened so quickly," he said.[LNB]Lucky"I was only thinking the other day that at Christmas I felt I would be lucky to get a run of two or three games in our team. [LNB]"But I am feeling a lot more confident now. Things had been stop-start since I came here but I always felt that if I could get a run of 12 or 15 games I would be much better.[LNB]"Thankfully that has happened. This is the proudest moment of my career. To get recognition at this level is something everyone aspires to."[LNB]
