Arteta praises Toffees spirit

Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta is confident that his side can challenge for a top-six finish and a return to European action next season.

The Toffees have recovered from a slow start to the campaign to move up to seventh place in the Premier League table, having secured a 1-0 victory at Manchester City last weekend.

Arteta told the Daily Echo: "We are still in the mix.

"That was a really important game, because we could have ended up losing three or four positions.

"As it is we remain close to the top six, so hopefully we can keep going and have a good result against Chelsea.

"We were so happy in the dressing room on Saturday.

"The reaction this season has been terrific. Every time we've had a bad game we have reacted as nobody could expect."
