Everton's England striker Andrew Johnson has been named as the Premiership Player of the Month for September.

The 25-year-old has made a superb start to his Toffees career since his £8.6million transfer from Crystal Palace and scored four goals in four games last month.

Johnson found the net against both Wigan Athletic and Manchester City, while he won the hearts of the Goodison Park faithful with a double in the 3-0 derby win over Liverpool.

"It's always nice to win things, but I see this as a reward for the whole team," Johnson told his club's official website.

"We've made a terrific start to the season and although the award will have my name on it, I wouldn't have scored six goals so far if the rest of the lads weren't playing so well.

"Any player joining a new club wants to get off to a good start and all the boys here have certainly helped me to do that.

"I want to dedicate the award to the boys and manager David Moyes for all the support I have had."
