    AJ tipped for England glory

    19 Mar 2007 - 16:36:59

Everton boss David Moyes has backed Toffees striker Andrew Johnson to fire England to Euro 2008 qualifying glory this week.

Johnson scored the winner in Everton's 1-0 victory over Arsenal at Goodison Park on Sunday with a clinical late strike.

And Moyes believes the 12-goal striker can continue his Premiership form on the international stage and form a dynamic partnership with Wayne Rooney in the forthcoming qualifiers against Israel and Andorra.

"Andy is definitely up to the task of playing for England," said Moyes.

"If England have got the players who can put him into the box, he will get through and score.

"He is always a threat, always on the shoulder of the last defender and he is always likely to get in behind a defence with his pace.

"Of course, he is most dangerous when he is right up front. He is always on the edge and making things happen.

"If England use him like that, and play the passes in for him, he will do well for them.

"He will not let the team down. Andy was terrific against Arsenal, he was always getting through their backline and always a threat.

"He always puts defenders under pressure, and he did so many really good things. Hopefully it will send him off to England in the right frame of mind and full of confidence."
