Football.co.uk's new countdown continues with a look at an Everton youngster promising to rival the talents of Wayne Rooney.

Name: Jack Christian Rodwell

Born: March 11, 1991 (Age 19)

Club: Everton

International Honours: England U21s (12 caps, 2 goals)

A graduate of Everton's famous academy system, Rodwell has established himself in the first-team squad since making his Premier League debut against Sunderland back in 2008.

A central defender during his youth days, Jack has excelled in the middle of midfield under David Moyes' tutelage.

Employed as both a holding player and an attacking one, his versatility, technique and seemingly limitless energy has reportedley attracted the attention of both Manchester United and Chelsea.

Since making his international debut for the under-16s back in 2006, Rodwell has moved up the youth ranks - even being named captain of Stuart Pearce's under-21 side in last month's 2-0 win over Uzbekistan.

He is widely tipped for a senior call-up in the near future, although he is currently sidelined until December with an ankle ligament injury picked up against Aston Villa earlier this month.
