Valverde stays cautious

Coach Ernesto Valverde is refusing to be carried away despite seeing Villarreal finally awake from their early-season slumber.

The struggling Yellow Submarine thrashed Tenerife 5-0 on Sunday o finally climb out of the bottom three following a dismal start to the La Liga season.

Goals from Joseba Llorente (two), Giuseppe Rossi, Robert Pires and Cani secured only a second win of the league season for Valverde's side.

"We know how important victories are at the moment, and although we have won the match 5-0, the first half was not a stroll for us," he said afterwards.

"Tenerife has some opportunities from the outset but we have been very effective in front of goal.

"I will not hide that this has been a great result but it is necessary to remain calm."
